South Bay Children's Health Center

Today, I donated to the South Bay Children’s Health Center, an organization that provides dental and mental health services to low income children and families in the South Bay area of Los Angeles County. Why? I’ll let my sister explain:

Toothpaste. When I run out, I go to the store and buy another tube. To many of us, it’s a basic essential and yet there are children and families who struggle to maintain good dental hygiene practices because they can’t afford a tube of toothpaste or a toothbrush for each family member, not far away in a third world country, but right here in Los Angeles County. According to the CDC, dental caries remains the most common childhood disease in America. Why is dental hygiene so important, even for baby teeth? Baby teeth are critical to speech development and maintaining spacing for the proper placement of permanent teeth. The effects of poor childhood dental hygiene can last a lifetime.
