Food waste

Roughly 40% of food produced in the US goes to waste. 40%! Put that another way, that’s 63 million tons of per year. Or think of it another way: That’s $218 billion of economic activity that puts food in the trash.

Today, I supported a Kickstarter campaign for an organization called Serve, that hopes to harvest food that would otherwise go to waste and make soups and sauces for distribution to hungry families. This will not only divert food waste, but also feed the hungry.
