More Than Words

More Than Words is a non-profit social enterprise in Boston that empowers youth in the foster care system, court involved, homeless, or out of school, by giving them a role in a bookselling business. That’s right, it’s a youth-run bookstore, which generates over $2 million in revenue per year.

Today, I supported More Than Words, not directly (to be sure, I intend to do that in the future), but rather through a Shared Nation vote. They reached the quarter-finals this year, so hopefully they’ll win and get crowdsourced funding. What they’d like to do is take over the first floor of their building and transform it into a youth center, programmed around books.
